Snow and Extreme Weather Procedures

Arrangements for Winter 2025-2026

During days when we experience disruption caused by severe snow or extreme weather, the following arrangements are put into operation at school:

Snow Day Information

  • A text is sent to parents/carers before 8.00am if the school is going to close or we are operating any site restrictions. Parents/Carers will be contacted by phone if there are any concerns raised.
  • Information will be posted on the school website.
  • If conditions deteriorate during a school day a decision may be made to close the school early. A text will always be sent to parents/carers to inform them of any changes.
  • If you do not hear from the school, and you have checked the website, then assume it is a normal day and we are OPEN

Restricted Site Access and Priority Path Clearance

On days where we are OPEN, but there is some disruption from snow we will do the following:

  • Clear the path to the front entrance.
  • A pathway will be cleared to access the portacabin classrooms.
  • Staff will ensure that pupils use the cleared pathways

Registration on Snow Days

On snow days, if you have received a text to say the school is open but with the restrictions as described above, then on severe snow days there will be flexibility in starting times ensuring pupils’ safety to school. This flexible start will help avoid congestion on the roads and pavements outside school and improve safety.

Early Closing for Snow and Severe Weather Dismissals

If the school needs to close early due to deteriorating weather conditions (or we experience severe weather) then a text will be sent to parents. The following procedures will operate:

  • Pupils will remain in their classroom until transport is in place.

Thank you for your patience. We will always do everything possible to keep the school open throughout the winter without compromising the safety of your child.
